Boundary
Marking
& Posting

We can't do the legal survey — but if you have a plat, we'll work from it. Redd Excavation LLC marks corners, posts the line, and makes sure you know exactly where your ground starts and stops. A critical first step for any absentee landowner who's never walked their full boundary.

Corner Flagging

Property corners located from your plat and flagged clearly — so you know exactly where the legal pins are before any work starts.

Line Posting

No-trespassing signs or boundary markers set at regular intervals along the line — typically every 100 to 150 feet depending on timber density.

Tree Blazing

Boundary trees blazed along the line for a permanent visual indicator in addition to posts — especially useful in heavy timber where signs can be hard to spot.

Fence Line Clearing

Brush and overgrowth cleared back along the boundary line so you can see and access the full perimeter of your property.

Plat Coordination

We work from county GIS, recorded plats, and surveyor pins. If you're not sure where to get your plat, the county recorder's office has them on file.

Combined with Habitat Work

Boundary work pairs naturally with trail clearing, fence line brush removal, and property access projects — we can quote the full scope together.

Know What You Own

A lot of out-of-state buyers purchase Southern Illinois hunting ground and never walk the full boundary. They know the general shape from a map, but they've never stood at a corner or followed the line through the timber. That creates problems — neighbor disputes, accidental encroachments, habitat work done on the wrong side of the line, and stands hung where you don't have permission to be.

Getting the boundary posted is the first thing we recommend for any absentee landowner who's new to a property. Once the line is marked and posted, everything that follows — trails, food plots, hinge work, stand placement — is planned with accurate knowledge of what ground you're actually working with.

What We Need From You

A recorded plat or legal survey of your property is the starting point. We're not surveyors — we can't establish a legal boundary from scratch — but if you have a plat we can navigate to corners, flag them, and post the line between them. County GIS and aerial imagery help us navigate, but the plat is what we work from for accuracy.

If the property hasn't been surveyed recently or you're not sure where the corners are, getting a licensed surveyor to set pins first is the right move. Once that's done, we come in and post the line so it's visible on the ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do legal property surveys in Southern Illinois?

No — we're not licensed surveyors and we don't do legal surveys. What we do is work from a plat or survey you already have and physically mark and post the boundary on the ground. If you need a legal survey first, you'll need a licensed surveyor — we can work from their pins and plat once that's done.

What do I need to provide for boundary marking?

A plat map or recorded survey of your property is what we work from. County GIS data and aerial maps can supplement it for navigation, but we need a legal plat to accurately locate the boundary. If you're not sure where to get yours, the county recorder's office has recorded plats on file.

How do you mark property boundaries?

We flag corners and post the line with no-trespassing signs or boundary markers at regular intervals — typically every 100 to 150 feet depending on timber density and your preference. We can also blaze trees along the line if you want a more permanent visual indicator in addition to posts.

Why is boundary marking important for a hunting property?

Knowing exactly where your ground starts and stops matters for a few reasons — keeping trespassers out, knowing which timber you can cut, understanding where you can place stands and trails, and making sure habitat work stays on your side of the line. A lot of out-of-state buyers have never walked their full boundary and don't really know what they own until we post it.

Can you combine boundary work with other land management services?

Yes — and this is usually the smart way to do it. Walking and posting the boundary is a natural first step before any habitat work begins. You know what you're working with, we know where the edges are, and the fence line clearing or trail work that follows stays on your property. We can combine it all into a single site visit and project scope.
