Bush Hogging
& Property
Mowing

Southern Illinois brush grows fast. An untended property gets overtaken in a few seasons — trails close up, food plots get choked out, access becomes impossible. Redd Excavation LLC provides bush hogging and mowing for hunting properties across Southern Illinois, keeping your ground open, accessible, and productive whether you're here or not.

Field & Opening Maintenance

Orchard & Soft Mast Maintenance

Orchard areas and soft mast production zones mowed around to reduce competition and keep access open for deer and hunters.

Annual Property Maintenance Programs

Scheduled seasonal maintenance programs for absentee landowners — we come out on a calendar so your property stays in shape without you having to coordinate each visit.

Property Maintenance for Absentee Landowners

Most of the out-of-state landowners we work with bought their ground in Southern Illinois because of the deer hunting — and they need someone they trust to keep the property in shape between their visits. That means keeping trails open, food plots mowed, brush lines from closing in, and general property upkeep handled on schedule.

We run bush hog and mowing programs for properties throughout the area. You set the schedule and the priorities, we execute and report back. Show up in October to a property that looks like someone's been working it all summer — because someone has.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does a food plot need to be mowed?

Clover plots typically need mowing two to four times per season — once in late spring to knock back any winter weeds, again in mid-summer to keep it from going to seed, and sometimes once more in early fall depending on growth. The goal is keeping the canopy at a height deer prefer to graze — roughly 6 to 8 inches. Overgrown plots lose deer traffic fast.

Can you mow my property on a schedule if I live out of state?

Yes — scheduled property maintenance is one of the main services we provide for absentee landowners. We work out a seasonal program that covers what your property needs — food plot mowing, trail maintenance, field edges, fence lines — and execute it on a calendar without you having to call and coordinate each visit.

How much does bush hogging cost in Southern Illinois?

Bush hogging is typically priced by the hour or the day depending on the scope. A half-day of bush hogging covers a significant amount of ground. We quote based on acreage, terrain, and how overgrown the area is — thicker, rougher material takes longer. Call 618-417-7381 and describe what you're working with.

Can you keep fence lines and property boundaries cleared?

Yes. Fence line clearing and boundary maintenance is especially important for absentee owners who need clear access around their property and don't want neighbors encroaching on overgrown lines. We can include perimeter maintenance in an annual program alongside plot and trail work.

Do you do one-time mowing jobs or only recurring programs?

Both. If you just need a one-time bush hog of a neglected property before you get it set up, we can do that. If you want an ongoing maintenance program, we set that up too. A lot of our clients start with a one-time cleanup and then move into a seasonal program once they see how the property responds.
